How We Write
What goes into an article, who checks it before it goes live, and what to do if we get something wrong.
Research First
Every article starts from sources we fetch and read for that question: UK official sources first (the Food Standards Agency, gov.uk, legislation.gov.uk and the Advertising Standards Authority) and established UK news. We never cite a CBD brand’s blog or a study about what CBD does. The sources an article relies on are listed at its foot.
Written with AI Assistance
We draft articles with AI tools, working from those sources. Figures are meant to come from the sources, never from a model’s memory, and every chart says where its numbers came from and when.
Checked Against UK Rules
UK law and advertising rules allow no medical or health claims for CBD, so automated checks hold every article to our rules before anyone reads it:
- We never say or suggest that CBD treats, cures, prevents or helps with any condition or symptom.
- We don't publish testimonials, and we don't cite studies about what CBD does in the body.
- We give no dosing advice, beyond quoting the Food Standards Agency's published advice with its date.
- We write for adults only, and we never present CBD as a medicine.
- Laws and rules come only from official sources, with the dates those sources give.
A separate AI model, not the one that wrote the article, reads it against its sources and these rules and marks anything they don’t support.
Held for Any Legal Risk
Articles are published automatically, without a person reading them first, unless a check finds a legal risk. The checks never let through a health or medical claim, including any word that could read as one, or anything that suggests THC in our products or that a product may be eaten, or taken as a medicine. We write for adults only, so anything aimed at under-18s, at pets or at pregnancy is held too. So are another brand’s products, a claim to be the best, and a broken or insecure link. An article held for any of these waits for a person at The CBD Shop, who sees the sentence and the reason, and approves it, corrects it or drops it.
The second model’s other notes, such as a figure it would like linked to its source or a sentence it would word differently, don’t hold an article back. We review them after the article is live and correct what needs correcting. We can take any article down at any time.
Dates That Mean Something
An article’s “Updated” date changes only when the article itself changes: new figures, a new section, a correction.
Links to Our Shop
We sell the products we write about, and links to our shop are there so you can see them. They are not an independent review.
Not Medical Advice
Nothing in the Journal is medical advice. If you have a question about your health, or you take any medicine, speak to a GP or a pharmacist.
Corrections
If you spot a mistake, write to help@thecbdshop.co.uk. We’ll correct it and update the article’s date.
